Hey guys! Today I am going to be reviewing Old School by Jeff Kinney which is the tenth book in the ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ series. I know I am too old to read these kind of books but I kind of feel the need to read this one as DOAWP kind of introduced me to the middle grade genre.
Title: Old School
Author: Jeff Kinney
Series Status: The 10th book in a series
Publisher: Amulet Books
Number of Pages: 217
My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars!
In the latest installment of the phenomenally bestselling Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, author-illustrator Jeff Kinney brings the series back to its roots, as Greg starts a new school year and faces a challenge he never could’ve imagined.
I literally just finished this book! A rush of nostalgia went through me and I remembered how many memories I had attached to this book! Also, these books are freaking hilarious and brilliant for like, any age category! I am pretty sure that millions of other fans totally agree with me! They are kind of like graphic novels, they read like normal novels but there are a lot of doodles everywhere and picture relating to conversations that the characters are having. These books are very relatable and now that I have been with Greg (the protagonist) for ten books, I am kind of starting to react to things the way that he would. Like one time, I was trying to find a little accessorie that came with the cereal box so I emptied the contains of it onto the floor and started to look through it, certainly not realising that I was making a mess and a fool of myself.
This particular book had two different stories going on at the same time and the author did an amazing job at linking those two together. I especially enjoyed this one because we have kind of an outdoor setting also, it is about Greg talking about how life was back then and comparing it to now it a super funny way! I mean, he took a super boring topic and transformed into something that anyone would love to read.
It hardly took me any time to read this book as it was quite short and there were pictures everywhere but in spite of it being super short I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. These books have an amazing humorous front which is the only side the the small ones see while reading it but as an older reader, I think what Jeff is trying to do is take some teenage issues and talk about them in a way that we all love!
Anyways, I think I am getting too deep with this light hearted book! I have got to quit my ramble time for now! I really enjoyed this book and I hope you do too!
All righty, guys! That is it for my post today… I hoped you enjoyed it, I hope you have a great day! Let me know down in the comments below about your experience while reading this book! I will have another post up soon so I will see you then! Goodbye!
